Massey 50 Ton Diesel Tractor Brookville has now completed its second 50-Ton Diesel Tractor for Massey Energy. This equipment will be used to move supply cars down a steep grade into the mine to be distributed. Only the operator and a passenger can be carried in this vehicle.This articulated unit weighs 113,685 lbs and is 32’7” long. The height is 6’6” and it is 10’8” wide. It is a rubber-tired unit with an electronically controlled 300 Hp Detroit Diesel Series 50 engine. The transmission is a Clark 3 speed. An important safety feature on this 50-Ton is a spring applied park brake. It also has full powered service brakes. An environmentally friendly feature of this equipment is the Engine Control Systems actively regenerative silicone carbide filter system. This offers 83% reduction of CO and 87% reduction in particulate matter. This meets West Virginia’s strict emissions regulations. |
